Luna Choir Director (Grade 3-6)

POSITION TITLE: Choir Director (Luna) 

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Executive Director

APPOINTMENTExempt, Part-time

SALARY: $7,000

Job Summary:  The Youth Choir Director is a part-time year-round position. It offers the opportunity for professional and artistic growth in the choral community engagement arena under the auspices of a well-established choral organization. The position reports to the Executive Director, and manages all artistic aspects of the Twin Cities Girls' Choir programming for the Luna Choir, grades 3-6.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, creating and leading the artistic vision and programming, singer development, engagement and retention; student and parent liaison, rehearsal and concert support, volunteer coordination and general program collaboration. The position entails Monday night rehearsals and occasional additional evening and weekend commitments.

Duties and Responsibilities for Luna Choir (grades 3-6):

  • Model and implement the mission, vision and values of Her Voice Productions
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to formulate, implement and monitor annual and long-range plans, goals, and objectives for Her Voice Productions
  • Partner with the Executive Director to set the annual artistic vision focusing on developing the skills, abilities and confidence of the singers while engaging and growing audiences
  • Continually pursue greater understanding of youth learning and development to better facilitate musical learning experiences that cultivate an affirming and engaging environment
  • Select a diverse body of repertoire for the Choir and teach from a culturally sensitive and informed perspective
  • Create intentional objectives for each song that outline the musical, social, and cross-cultural learning goals
  • Meet individually with or survey parents at the beginning of the season to determine specific goals for their singer's development; build findings into plans as appropriate
  • Design and lead weekly rehearsals to ensure singer engagement as well as measurable gains in vocal skill development, ear training, sight singing and performance preparation
  • Implement practice tools, benchmarks, assessments and forms of recognition that measure, acknowledge and encourage student accomplishments
  • Provide bi-annual feedback to parents on their singer's progress and challenges
  • Communicate with parents/families on a weekly basis to ensure consistent and up-to-date information has been given
  • Conduct all performances for Luna Choir
  • Plan and execute choir retreat and musical collaborations in coordination with other music staff and Executive Director
  • Actively recruit and communicate performance opportunities and/or collaborations with complementary groups, artists, clinicians or organizations
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Youth Choir Coordinator to ensure all performance logistics/scheduling are handled
  • Assist in rehearsal and concert set-up, take down and clean-up
  • Attend staff and program meetings
  • Provide content and updates for the NewsNotes
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with Aurora Director, Youth Choir Coordinator and accompanists.
  • Be an ambassador for Her Voice Productions in the community: connecting regularly with families, recruiting new singers, audiences, volunteers and donors, and actively promoting the Choirs in all relevant communities
  • Work with Executive Director to set and manage yearly program budgets
  • Assist Executive Director in grant writing and attend fundraising events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Passion for choral music, working with children and fostering a positive learning environment that inspires excellence
  • 3-5 years of youth oriented, choral music education and conducting experience
  • BA/BM in music or music education (preferred),
  • Able to effectively engage, build and maintain relationships with 8-12-year-old singers from diverse backgrounds, their parents and communities
  • Understanding of music pedagogy and unchanged/developing voice, experience in teaching healthy, age-appropriate singing techniques, passion for new program development and collaboratively creating new programming
  • Able to effectively collaborate and communicate verbally and in writing – strong interpersonal skills required
  • Strong organizational skills, with good attention to detail, able to find creative solutions to last-minute changes
  • In a collaborative and autonomous environment, able to take initiative, be self-directed and work independently
  • Flexible schedule
  • Basic piano skills

Aurora Choir Director (Grade 6-9)

TCGC Choir Coordinator

POSITION TITLE: TCGC Choir Coordinator

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Executive Director

APPOINTMENTExempt, Part-time

SALARY: $5,000

Job Summary:

The Youth Choir Coordinator is a part-time, 38-week position, which offers the opportunity for professional growth in the arts community engagement arena under the auspices of a well-established choral organization. The position reports to the Executive Director, and manages all administrative aspects of the Twin Cities Girls' Choir programming.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, student and parent liaison, rehearsal and concert support, volunteer coordination, and general support for the artistic staff. The position entails weekly Monday evening rehearsals and occasional evening and weekend commitments for our five main events each season. 

Candidates must have reliable transportation.  Hours outside of rehearsals/concerts are flexible with the ability to work onsite and telecommute when possible.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Model and implement the mission, vision and values of Her Voice Productions.
  • Liaison to student singers and parents re scheduling and communications
  • Coordinate/execute all weekly communications with Artistic staff to students and families. 
  • Coordinate rehearsal and performance venues for set up and logistics.
  • Coordinate volunteers for events and rehearsal needs.
  • Assist with artists scheduling and logistics.
  • General office and admin support.
  • Update/maintain singer website portals
  • Assist with evaluation administration and compilation.
  • Manage family/singer registrations and ensure all information is current and up-to-date in our online systems.
  • Provide admin support to the choir directors.
  • Onsite concert/event management.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for the arts and importance of arts engagement in youth development
  • Ability to work effectively with elementary through high school students, their parents, and diverse communities.
  • Proven ability to motivate and manage volunteers.
  • Strong organizational skills, with good attention to detail and flexibility to troubleshoot creative solutions to last-minute changes in logistics and scheduling.
  • Ability to work well as a team member and effectively support the choir directors and accompanist.
  • Strong interest in new program development and collaboratively creating new systems.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Commitment to excellence and ability to inspire that in others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing – strong interpersonal skills required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media, and basic website updating (squarespace).
